The Feeling of Falling in Love

Holding_hands_by_homarte-1

I’ve forgotten the feeling of falling in love

Until you comes and reminds me

A simple word with a deep meaning

Falling in love is undescribeable

An undescribeable feeling that makes you always smile

Even in your suckest day

It’s hard to admit this very weird feeling of mine

But, yeah I love you

Unconditionally

Semester 7

Hehehe..

Semester baru berarti gebetan baru. Adeuhh! Akhirnya saya sekarang punya gebetan baru.

It sounds very impossible for someone like me. But, who knows?

Nikmatilah masa-masa perkuliahan kalian..hahahaha!!!!

Apa Yang Sudah Kuperbuat Untuk Negaraku? (Renungan 17 Agustus)

Selamat ulang tahun Indonesia, negeriku. Jayalah selalu!

MERDEKA! (Karena kita memang bangsa yang merdeka)

My Holiday Movies

Okay, like I’ve promised you before, here is the list of some movies that I’ve watched during the holiday. Here we go!

#1. Garuda di Dadaku

72322_film_garuda_di_dadaku1

Casts : Emir Mahira, Aldo Tansani, Marsha Aruan, Ikranagara, Maudy Koesnaedi, Ari Sihasale, Ramzi

Director : Ifa Isfansyah

In the middle of some horror movies attack in most of cinema in Indonesia, we can hardly find a good movie that have a lot of lesson learns. One of them is Garuda di Dadaku. The main theme of this movie is about sport, football for specific. Bayu (Mahira) have had a strong ambition to be a professional football player since he was young, but his grandfather (Ikranagara)  really oppose with Bayu’s decision. In his mind, by being a football player, his grandson will not have a prospective future. Bayu never give up. With the help of his best friend, Heri (Tansani), finally he can register to a junior football club. He also finally can pass the selection to be one of the player in ‘Under 13 Football Competition’.

This is not a fabulous movie but I have to admit that nowadays we rarely see movies with the same theme as this. Indonesian children need a movie like this so that they can grow up naturally and enjoying their childhood. I hope in the future Indonesian film-makers will make more movies like this.  Maybe we can make our local PIXAR that produce animated educative movie. One thing that I don’t really like about this movie is the predictable ending that make this movie more like ‘sinetron’.

Anyway , I like this movie’s tagline :

Be brave and reach all your dreams

#2. Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince

harrypotter6

Casts : Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Bonnie Wright, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Jim Broadbent

Director : David Yates

This movie is adapted from the sixth JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series. Harry (Radcliffe) discovered a mysterious book signed by the half blood prince in the Prof. Horace Slughorn’s (Broadbent) potions class. Suddenly, Harry became so clever in potions because of that book, even more clever than Hermione (Watson).  Harry also did a private lesson with Dumbledore (Gambon) to find out about Lord Voldemort. This movie also tells a lot about the early history of Lord Voldemort (formerly Tom Marvolo Riddle). The relationship between Harry and Ginny, Ron’s sister (Wright) also became closer vice versa with Ron (Grint) and Hermione’s relationship.

This is one of my 2009’s most awaited movie. But, to be honest, this movie is so under my expectation. I’m very dissapointed with this Harry Potter movie. The novel was exciting but the movie was dissapointing. Too much drama about their relationship. I don’t like it. This is suppose to be not a drama movie. I was expected to see a fantasy movie full of wonderful scoring and visual effect, but then I saw a drama movie. This is so not Harry Potter. I hope the next movie will be much better than this. And for those of you who haven’t read the novel yet, you’re so lucky since you won’t compare both the novel and the film.

#3. He’s Just Not That Into You

Hes-Just-Not-That-Into-You

Casts : Justin Long, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Connely, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson

Director : Ken Kwapis

The main character in this movie is Gigi (Goodwin). She always think that every man she’s dating  is her Mr. Right. She also always expected a phone call from that “Mr. Right” after their first dating. But, unfortunately it was all end up with no phone calls. All of those events really made her depressed. She didn’t understand the man’s mindset. In her mind, man is a very unpredictable creature. After all of those unfortunate event, she met Alex (Long), the bartender at the cafe where she met her first date before. Alex gave her some ‘tutorials’  to interpretted the signs from her dates. But, somehow finally Gigi ended up with Alex.

After seeing this movie, I thought thai it was just another romantic comedy movie. Then I tweeted about this and my friend’s reply really change my previous thought about the movie. Sometimes we, girls, have too high expectation about our dates/crushes. Yeah, me too have been there and done that.

#4. Crossing Over

8890_17_poster_1_f

Casts : Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, Ashley Judd, Jim Sturgess

Director : Wayne Kramer

This is a story about the struggle of immigrants in USA to get their Green Card. Getting a Green card means a lot for them. It means that they can work, which is a really hard thing for USA’s immigrants. I don’t know whether this movie based on a true event or not, but in my opinion there are still plenty of sarcastic discriminations for immigrants in the USA, especially for middle- east immigrants. Based on Taslima’s character in this movie. She has lived in USA for almost of her life. She was born in Saudi Arabia but she grows up in USA. At school, she experienced some hard times. She is being discriminated just because she is an Arabic and she’s a Moslem. She’s also a victim of peer bullying. After she made an essay about her interests in jihad, she’s being expelled from her school and she’s also finally sent back to her homeland with her mom.

This is a heart breaking story. I was full of tears in almost all parts of this movie, not because I’m sappy. Living in USA is not as easy as you think. Why did I tell you most about Taslima in the previous paragraph? Because I’m proud of her. I’m not a Moslem, but I know how hard it is to be a minority in your own society. This movie is not just a story about Taslima’s struggle, but this is a story of some foreign people trying to be accepted and treated normally in that superpower country. Some of them finally can get the acceptances, but some of them can’t and they are sent back to their homelands.

This is a very recommended movie. Think twice before you decide to change your nationality because it’s not as easy as you think.

That’s all movies I’ve had watched during the holiday. Actually I watched lots of movie but that’s the top 4 that I like the most. College will start on Tuesday, so I guess I won’t do blogging routinely since I must be very busy on the next semester but I’ll try my best to write about some interesting things on my blog.

Keep reading this blog because I surely will post an article about Indonesia’s Independence Day. So, stay tune! Hahaha..

21 Credits

It’s already fix now that I’m gonna take 21 credits for the 7th semester. Yesterday, my lecturer said that it was too much. But, yeah this is the one and only way for me to fulfill my target. So on the last semester (8th semester) I’ll only have 8 credits left.

This is the list of subjects that I take :

  1. Final Project 1 (4 credits)
  2. Bacteriology (2 credits)
  3. Environmental Microbiology (2 credits)
  4. Immunology and Microbial Pathogenesis (3 credits)
  5. Industrial Sociology (2 credits)
  6. Methods of Creative Thinking (2 credits)
  7. Geomicrobiology (2 credits)
  8. Food Nutrition Science (2 credits)
  9. Plant and Microbial Interaction (2 credits)

Woww, it’s quite a lot though. But I’m always be optimistic that I can go through the 7th semester safely. Haha..and I guess I’ll be very busy this semester. Hopefully I can increase my GPA on this semester. More than 3,5 probably. Actually I’m not sure I can gain that much. Yeah, but like I’ve said before..just be optimistic.

Yup, all I can do is just try hard and pray. And I promise on the next semester there won’t be any hang out time after campus. Really have to study hard. *cross finger*

*I’ll post about the movie I’ve watched during my holiday later at the end of my holiday. Okey??

Movies I’m Craving To Watch

#1. cin(T)a

prv_130

Casts : Sunny Soon, Saira Jihan

Director : Sammaria Simanjuntak

This is one of Indonesian movie that first being released abroad, in London. It will be screened for the first time in Indonesia in the mid August, based on the info I got from some of my friends. The plot of this movie is very simple. About 2 people , Cina and Annisa, who are falling in love. But the story become not as simple as before because both of them have different religion. The girl is a Moslem and the boy is a Catholic. And we’ll see who should win in the battle between love and religion.

Ever since I watched this movie’s trailer, I felt that cin(T)a will give controversy in Indonesian movie industry. But somehow I feel that I must watch this movie. In my opinion, the story is so real.  Some of my friends also experiencing a kind of relationship like in this movie. I heart the tagline and one of the quote in this movie.

Here is the tagline :

GOD is a director

And here is the quote that I really love :

Why do YOU create us differently if YOU only want to be worshipped in one way?

#2. (500) Days of Summer

50days-of-summer-posters_opt-11

Casts : Zooey Deschanel, Joseph Gordon-Levitt

Director : Marc Webb

Meet the main roles, Tom Hansen (Levitt) and Summer Finn (Deschanel). Summer always attracts male attention. On the contrary, Tom is a little bit of shy guy and doesn’t have much experiences on being in a relationship. Tom believes in love at the first sight, while Summer doesn’t. Until someday, Tom feels that Summer is the one who he wants to spend his entire life with. This is a story about the effort of Tom to convince Summer that he’s the right guy for her to spend all of her entire life. Because, you know, Summer is  a very independent girl who doesn’t believe in a relationship and boyfriends. Can he make a conviction?

I’ve already watched the trailer for several times and so can’t wait to watch this movie. Anyone knows when will it be released in Indonesia? Please tell me! I also have listened to the soundtracks and all is good. I love the soundtracks. I think, it really gets along with the movie plot.

#3. My Sister’s Keeper

My-Sisters-Keeper-02

Casts : Abigail Breslin, Cameron Diaz, Sofia Vassilieva

Director : Nick Cassavetes

This is the movie adaptation from a novel with the same title by Jodie Picoult. Anna Fitzgerald (Breslin) was being born to be genetically matched with her sister, Kate (Vassilieva) who have had suffering from leukimia. Anna wasn’t able to do her activities because of the Kate’s big dependency on her. When Kate got renal failure and need a kidney donation from Anna, she complained. Anna didn’t want to donate her organs for Kate anymore because she thought that she also had rights to her own body. That’s why she sued her parents for medical emancipation.

I know, this is a very sad movie. I haven’t read the novel yet. Maybe I should read it before I’ll watch the movie. My Sister’s Keeper has been released in USA since June 2009 but I don’t know when it’ll be released in Indonesia. Maybe I’ve to try finding the DVD. I must watch this phenomenal movie.

#4. Paper Heart

paper_heart04

Casts : Charlyne Yi, Michael Cera

Director : Nicholas Jasenovec

Both Yi and Cera plays the role as themselves in this documentary movie. In this movie, we follow the  cross country journey of Yi and Cera to documented what exactly ‘love’ is. They’re interviewing lots of people from different backgrounds.

Maybe some of you think that this is just an ordinary documentary film. But, for me, I think this movie has a mission since this is a story on finding the real meaning of ‘love’ for some different people. I’m so curious about this movie. Yesterday I’ve just found out about this movie on IMDb’s website and suddenly really want to watch it. This movie will be released in USA on August 14th. Don’t ask me when it will be release in Indonesia. 🙂

Yeah, that’s some movies that I’m really craving to watch. Hopefully in this last days of my holiday I can watch them all. But, I’m not sure. It’s rather hard to find the DVDs. Keep reading my blog, peeps! Cause I’ll write about the movies I’ve watched during my -long-yet-gonna-end-soon-holiday. 🙂

Oh yeah, one more thing. If you have a Twitter account, you can follow me on : http://www.twitter.com/gabriellagita.
